An old-school motorcycle daredevil jumps the shark, but not before going on a vision quest with his unlikely spirit animal. - Available on Kindle only. Available on Kindle and paperback.
This is a spec ad that I wrote and animated for a tequila contest. Unfortunately I didn't win any actual tequila, but I got a nice bottle opener.
Right now, my books are available on Amazon through my Author Page, except for Cabinet of Curiosities, which is available from this page. I do have some extra copies of Scraping the Red Sky as paperbacks. If you want one, please contact me.
I started really writing fiction in the early 1990s. At that time, it was poetry, short stories, and movie scripts. I was a finalist in the 1997 World Animation Celebration Screenwriting Contest and got to develop my show idea with Klasky-Csupo, (they made most of the famous Nickelodeon cartoons in the 90s like Rugrats.). The pitch wasn't picked up but it certainly inflamed my writing itch, which I am still scratching to this very day.
Yes! Please contact me with your writing needs. My rates are reasonable and I'm sure that we find the best way to make your project a reality. You can also check out my freelance writing website.
Most of them are only available through Amazon Kindle, and can be read on any app that can download and read Kindle content. These apps are available for laptops, smartphones, standalone Kindle Readers, and similar devices. Some of the larger books like the anthologies are also available as paperbacks.
Anywhere and everywhere, though I often find them in the least likely of places, such as next to the used chewing gum on the bottom of movie theater seats.
These all came from my last visit to the Swetsville Zoo near Fort Collins, Colorado. Sadly, the zoo is being replaced by less-interesting condominiums, though there are plans to incorporate some of the sculptures into the landscaping.
Vaughn Johnson writes speculative fiction with some horror, fantasy, talking animals, and sci-fi thrown in for good measure. He has written a series of children’s picture books for the Little Tikes Company, and was featured in the independent anthologies Scraping the Red Sky and Cabinet of Curiosities. He got his start in the world of animation, where he continues to find inspiration for his odd stories.
By day, Vaughn works as a technical copywriter for clients in the toy, furniture, cannabis, and aerospace industries. He also loves to go on safari to thrift stores, flea markets, and garage sales where he finds strange and unusual items. Some of these items end up in his collection, while many others appear in his eBay store.
Vaughn lives in Denver, Colorado with his equally eccentric wife, son, and menagerie; three cats, a neurotic dog, and a Syrian Dwarf Hamster. They are on a never-ending quest to find the perfect waterslide, taco, and roadside attraction. The search continues.
